Another 2 bit non ranking glorified exbo stated this week, in the World Cup, and normally this clusterfuck of an event would or should not warrant more that a line on here, but I did take a little joy in seeing the potbellied of Jimmy Hill get turfed out. I know its mickey mouse shit, and the so called top players don't give a flying fuck and its better the lower ranked players get some tv time, some extra coinage, etc, but still, its nice to see the so called top players get a rude awakening. The most important thing is, in these comps the onus is on thew so called top players to carry their lesser players to a victory over their lesser ranked opponents.
The defeat of Wales, Northern Ireland and some others were classed as a shock. I wonder if England winning was a shock, after all that stupid bastard Wayne Mardle publicly stated a fortnight ago that he predicted Phillipines to beat England...how did that work out Wayne ?

Not long ago superchin rolled up to the O2 on PL finals night only 2 wins away from a quarter of a million quid. This weekend he has to team up with the dull slow lip licking Brendan Dolan in a comp that has fuck all worth, is it any wonder he could not give a fuck. Despite what Mardle will spout to try bullshit watchers, there was little pressure on him for a 2 bit comp. As mentioned, those lesser players that gave it a good go like the darker Italian lad,, Devon Peterson etc stood up to the task and performed well. and will credit them.
Other players who were seen as the weak link in their team actually outdid their partners, guys like Lerchbacker and Wattimena were the stronger links in their matches so far.
But in the end, the whole selection concept is utterly flawed. When you have Bellyboy Micheal Smith who has not won a singles match on TV in over 3 months, and has never won a tv ranking title in his entire career qualify to represent England, while a player who has won 2 tv titles, and multiple floor championships in the last year and is without doubt the more current in form player not qualify, then it shows how little current form plays on ranking, seedings and priority in upcoming events, which is a throwback to the comments mentioned on this blog last week concerning the comments of Wayne Mardle and why the current ranking system needs a tweak.
In the end, its still darts on TV, and worth a watch if we put aside the bullshit hype the panelists are trying to force down our throat and see it for just what it is. It could be the BDO where you gets multiple promises of new eras, upcoming events, big sponsorship deals top class venues on the way and other delusions of grandeur by a deluded fuckwad./ Take the world cup for what it is, a filler in the calendar and a chabce for minors players to get something for themselves and nothing more.

Watched the Yankee CDC tour last weekend, and whilst not expecting the standard to be anything more than what it was, a few games and players were well worth a watch, but a mention for the player J Beecroft.. He was up against Darin Young in the Quarter finals on event #5, in the 10th leg with Beecrodt 5-3 up Beecroft was on 76 and Young back on 213.
Beecroft misses 2 darts at tops, and Young hits a 177 to leave 36. Beecroft misses 9 more match darts and Young missed 8 darts before winning the leg on double 1, which both players were on. Beecroft loses the match after losing 3 legs on the trot without a shot at a double.11 missed match darts and loses....Merv King and Hamilton type choking.
