KNOB OF THE WEEK.
The award goes to the last winner of the Bob Potter Cup, Neil Duff. He is the latest in a line of ignorant simpleminded people who when he reads any criticism shows his complete stupidity and obvious lack of any breeding when his first reaction is to start calling people out for a fight. Then this stunted mentality is not a new thing on that side of the divide with former Bob Potter Cup winners, ex cons, and all round chav cunts having a history of similar.
Take a look at this tweet that was in relation to a comment Chris Mason said on Modus that Duff would not be defending his title at Bobs Slum
Even if the twitter user accepted his offer and a fight happened and Neil Duff beat him, how would that alter the fact the guy on twitter thinks Duff is a mediocre player and just another jobber that won a comp won by multiple jobbers ? Will threatening to beat up people somehow stop him being mediocre ? How would his prowess as a bare knuckle boxer alter his record in darts ? Yes he won a Bob Potter Cup, fair play to him for that and most likely deserved it, but someone had to win it. It is clear he is a very sensitive guy unable to take criticism and gets angry very easy and insecure enough he feels compelled he has to portray some tough guy as if that will somehow negate the point that was made.
Anyone who resorts to issuing fights over the internet is stupid, and when the guy trying to act like a hard man is in his 50s he is a sad cunt as well as stupid. What is it with old cunts thinking they are still in the prime of their lives ?
Could you imagine that mentality in any other game or sport, like for example someone calling the Republic of Ireland football manager a useless cunt who is not up to the job, and the manager asking the guy out for a fight, would it get Ireland in the world Cup. Or telling Pep Gaurdiola he is mediocre and cost City the champions League. It don't happen, you wont see them jumping on twitter offering to fight people, only in Darts, and on the shit side of it. I wonder will some stupid cunt get the hump with this logic and threaten me and ergo prove my point.
After countless people right away laughed at Duffs response his next reaction was to delete his twitter account. He could have deleted the post instead of his account, but I suspect he was in a humour and was upset people were laughing at him and rightly so. He did himself no favours and when you are an older guy offering fights to strangers on twitter you will always come out looking even worse, and at his age should know better.
PDC 2023 CALENDAR
We get all this bullshit how the PDC is growing the game globally, but how is adding an 8th euro tour in Germany a good thing ?
I total agree with getting rid of the badly attended Gibraltar, but they got rid of Budapest also, so that is 2 less countries represented in favour of Germany. They could have tried a gig in France, even if it flopped it would be better attended than Gibraltar. Last week their idea of "growing the game globally was to introduce a Ukrainian qualifier, virtue signalling if ever there was, whilst countries with vastly superior depth in quality being overlooked. If they really wanted to exploit untapped areas, Ukraine would be nowhere near the top, but as said only done for attention seeking.
Last week showed there is scope for more elsewhere in Europe as the Belgian euro tour was in my opinion possibly the best euro tour of the year, in that it was packed out, almost every single star of Belgian darts, past and present turned up in some capacity, the crowd far better than those Dutch assholes that turned up at the World Series. Even the trophies were proper trophies, even Andrew Gilding's runner up trophy was a better looking trophy than any other trophy in the other Euro tours where most looked like some beer mat covered in plastic or some tacky restaurant menu. A packed crowd, great matches, and was even shown on Belgian terrestrial TV. A proper event all around.
The PDC think putting on an international event in Bahrain suddenly makes it more global, except this Bahrain event is just replacing another event that was now cancelled. In fact with the Grand Prix next year being held yet again in the shit hole of Leicester instead of Dublin which is also a shit hole but at least it would be an event outside the UK and germany that is another event going to the UK or Germany.
I have not counted it, but suspect there will be less events outside of the UK and Germany in 2023 than 2022.
I still think the overall year is weighted too much in the back end. Yes its great during the Autumn and Winter months to have the Grand Prix, European champs, Players champs finals, the Grand Slam, to join the world championships, but the downside is, apart from the fact the bulk of them are so close together which sort of devalues them when they are coming thick and fast, the main problem is from the World Championships to the Matchplay a period of over 6 months there is just one single ranking major, that being the UK Open in March. The other events are nothing but glorified invitational exbos like the Premier League, the Masters and the first couple of World Series invitational shit. Thankfully 10 euro events will take place in those 6 months and I would rather watch the euro tour where its proper darts where players are there on merit, not because of gender or because they tick boxes or out of favoritism, and the Euro Tours are ranked events where it matters more for the players who have been ignored for the invitational events.
Compare last weekends Euro tour to a world Series non ranking exbo, it should be no surprise why I would pick a euro tour. Ranking events where the fields are made up of players there on merit will always trump some non ranking invitational shit.
People can argue the Premier League is a major, and whilst it has major exposure, major money, it is still invitational, non ranking and we have seen numerous times where favoritism play a huge part..
WDF, MAD/ADC, UKDF,WSDT, Tri Nations...and other meaningless shit.
No one seems to know when the next Bob Potter Cup is taking place, and some are suggesting it will clash with the seniors event, and Chris Mason's comment where he spoke during some modus match during the week how Duff would not be at Lakeshite was not expanded upon as to why he uttered it. The reality is all these orgs are clueless cunts, and when modus is the most organised lot outside of the PDC it goes to show how bad things are.
The WDF Europe Cup is on this weekend and I could not give one french fried titty fuck about this clusterfuck and meaningless heap of shit so unless I come across some "news" by accident, I have zero interest in their latest rubbish. The only thing I spotted was some French player made the finals in the Men's, and another French player Thibault Tricole won some group in modus, so french darts are improving, which goes back to a point I made earlier about a possible euro tour in France to replace Gibraltar, and how it would surely be an improvement., as I doubt it could be worse.
GRAND PRIX
I am really looking forward to this and with a short best of 3 sets in the first round we are in for a few shocks. Gerwyn Price defending 110k, and Dirk is defending a runners up spot of 50k....good luck with that Dirk.On the opposite side Wade, Bellyboy, Krusty, Jose, Aspinall and Cross all lost first round 2 years ago and most will improve on that and be heading in the right direction.
