THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH
image host image host image host image host
DAY 1
A fine display by Robert Thornton in the opening match, started sluggish and got stronger as the match went on, finished with a 99 average which was impressive after the slow start. Caris was woeful as usual.
I guess Welge losing to Leung is the first "shock2 of this comp. Leung played better than i had thought and fully deserved his win.
Paul Nicholson got a n easy time with co Stompe who was utter shit and you can see why he has dropped out of the top 40, maybe he can do what other PDC jobber eccles did and join the BDO and be a contender for Lakeshite, as for the future 2 time world champion, dream on dickhead.
Adrian Lewis who is always a slow started was atrocious and had he played anyone that was half decent he would have went out, Vos is another that should fuck off back to the bdo.
Kevin Painter put in a professional solid display against Leung who to his credit did himself proud, and although he was convincingly beaten can hold his head high, he did better on stage tonight that some Lakeshite jobber champions did in the joke that was Zuiderduin, like droopy Walton, goldfish mouth Kist and the Spineless one. Leung for his short night earned himself 6 thousand pounds in the process, how many godforsaken shitholes throughout Europe would he have to travel to in the bdo to get points to play in lakeside to win a packet of pork chops.
DAY 2 Afternoon
Wayne Jones was very poor and Hendricks made it seem easy in the end.
Darryl Guerney showed his class and lack of TV experience in equal measure but deserved his victory in what was a decent prelim match. Richie Burnett and James Hubbard gave us an entertaining match up, although not the best quality, but richie will be happy to have got through.
Great to see Jenkins settle quick, and hopefully can get a decent run this year, 95 average as well in his victory.
Guerney continued his good run over a shockingly poor Pieman who missed a mountain of doubles which was enough to allow Darryl to finish him off without hardly any pressure for what is another shock on paper.
DAY 2 -Evening
Chisnall put in a fine display against a very resilient Shane Tichowitsch who himself put in a great show, with some nice checkouts, and although the score read 3-0 in sets it was a lot closer than that.
The prelim match up of Hopp & Peterson was a enjoyable match  with Hopp who looks like a young stormtrooper goosestepping his way to victory, looks a great prospect for the future.
A solid if not exciting showing from Part over Cullen who started brightly but quickly faded. Good to see Part get agitated over his missing mural, might be some extra motivation for him.
Taylor beats Mansell in a dour game, Taylor never really got going, and only averaged 93, still thats far higher than Kist won lakeshite with.
The final game of the night between Hopp & Ovens was an shit standard, in the end it seemed the experience of Ovens and the lack of it by Hopp was the difference.
DAY 3
Brendan Dolan was solid if not brilliant but it was more than enough to see of Mark Jones who offered little.
The prelim match between the 2 Finnish lads was a decent enough encounter, with jani getting through to meet Anderson.
Hamilton versus Richardson was another entertaining game which was a lot closer than the scoreline suggests, had Richardson hit his doubles to win the fourth set it might have been a different outcome.
Performance of the night belonged to Barney who registered a 108 average and 75% on his doubles on Micheal Smith, lets hope he dont revert back to headshaking in the next game.
The match of the night was Gary Anderson against Jani Haavista, ando who average around 105 for most of the match struggled to shake of the finn who played very well and nearly tied the match up at 2-2 in sets before ando sealed the win.
By far the best night of the comp so far and a great night of darts.
DAY 4
What set out as looking as a poor night on paper turned into another very enjoyable night of darts.
Peter wright disposed of a poor Aaron Monk without to much difficulty and puts in a solid tv performance for a change.
The prelim match was ok for a prelim with a poor Bowles coming out the winner.
Mark Webster put in his best display on TV of the year to see off Ian White, he should have won 3-0 but for a whole heap of missed doubles which allowed White to grab the 3rd set.In the 4th set Webster put in a fantastic set to claim victory.
Wade was ok but solid and did enough to see past a very poor Hudson, lets hope he can improve in the next game.
Match of the night was Jamie Caven against John Bowles, possibly better than the Ando match the night before which had everything. Bowles 121 checkout on the bull to level the match at 2-2 with Caven waitng on 87 for the match one of many crucial checkouts Bowles got before the match went to the 5th set where bowles broke Caven in the fifth leg. Caven to his credit also played but in the end you could not begrudge Bowles the win and he showed great bottle when under pressure.
DAY 5
Steve Beaton did not really need to get out of second gear to get past Kyle Anderson who was pretty poor.
Ilagan beat Jamie Lewis in the prelim, and was more a case of Lewis throwing it away, but happy for Ilagan. Johnny Haines started the first couple of legs well against Wes Newton but offered fuckall after that and Wes like Beaton earlier in the night did enough to go through without any major threat.
The Merv King-v- Dean winstanley match was possiblt the best and most entertaining game of the comp....had everyting, great checkouts, 180,s breaks of throw and and more twists and turns that an Irish country round. King very gracious in defeat.
Colin Osborne had too much for Ilagan, and played pretty well in a lot of patches, glimpses that he is finding his form again, but still expect him to go no further.
DAY 6
Justin Pipe got no challenge from Andy Jenkins who was totally shit winning just 2 legs, so sadly the slow cunt progresses.
Murumatsu did enough to beat the woeful New Zealand qualifier, and was totally out of his depth.
Exciting game between Ronnie Baxter & Dennis Priestley, Baxter played very well and deserved his win, although Priestley had his chances to level the match 2-2 in sets. Possibly the last time we will see the 52 year old icon and legend in the worlds.
Colin Lloyd and Darin young was a slow burner with little quality but entertaining and grew into a fine match, especially the last set which had great averages, checkouts, breaks of throw and every time it seemed one player was on top it changed before Lloyd managed to shake him off.
Whitlock has zero challenge from the Murumatsu, who only managed to win 3 legs in the entire match, and Whitlock eased home easily 3-0 in sets.
DAY 7
Mark Walsh proved too strong for Webster who was very poor, and bar the odd legs never looked like getting anywhere, and typical Sky  avoided yet again a Walshie interview.
Paul Lim looked poor against the Malaysian qualifier who himself was even worse.
Kim Huybrechts against Scott Rand was a superb match, Rand is made for TV, a smug cocky bastard with his theatrics but I love him, his kissing of the dart and winking, smirking at the camera will no doubt piss off a lot of people but I think its brilliant, his interview after his victory reeked of smugness and was brilliant., lets hope he can keep it up.
Vincent Van Der Voort was average but that was enough for him against the fruitcake kellet who keeps his dart in a fridge, thankfully there was no draught on stage this year as otherwise the useless Kellet would have been blown away not only on the dartboard but the stage as well.
MVG as expected progressed at the expense of Paul Lim, but MVG was poor by his standards and Lim improved on his earlier performance, hitting the first 170 checkout of the comp.
DAY 8
Hamilton -v- Burnett was a dour affair standard wise but an entertaining game, but richie was too eratic and Hamilton deservedly won through.
Got to feel a bit sorry for Guerney who put in a decent performance in his 4-1 defeat. He missed doubles to win 3 of the 4 sets he lost and should have beaten Chizzy. Not sure if Guerney will return to the  1970s and commit to the bdo or if he will try his luck in the PDC, either way he did himself proud even if he is an arrogant cunt.
Fuck you Gary Anderson, another game where he put me through the ringer over and over, but what a game, full of drama, high scoring, missed doubles.......a classic...wait they only happen in the bdo seemingly. Got to feel for John Bowles who missed 3 darts for the match.
Happy to see Jenkins see of John Part but he put in a great showing as well against a poor throwing part, would love to see Jenkins have a great run.
Thornton  versus Nicholson yet another contender for game of the tournament already , not only did this also got to a final set in a great entertaining match it went to a final null off last leg decider with thornton getting through, his 130 checkout to stay in the last set was sheer brilliance.
Taylor as expected saw off Hendricks in what appeared to be a poor Taylor performance, will need to up his game against Thornton next round.
DAY 9
Kevin Painter -v- Ronnie Baxter was yet another contender for match of the tournament. It went the full seven sets in just over an hour due to the great pace, with an incredible amount of 180s.Painter at one stage won 7 legs on the trot, then lost 8 on the trot before winning 3 on the trot, a superb game.
Colin Lloyd beat Mark Webster in a decent enough game but was always gonna be hard to follow the previous match, Lloyd fully deserving of the win too.
Barney against Dolan was as dour as I thought it might be, had Dolan leveled at 2 sets all it might have been different but once barney went 3-1 it was as good as over.
The evening session were all one sided games, first up Wes Newton put in a great display to blow away rand, four earlyish 100 plus checkouts set him nicely on his way and Rand never recovered.
Whitlock as expected was never really pushed against Colin Osborne and won quite east in the end, and Lewis also won 4-0 in what was the worst match of the night. He will no doubt be happy to be still in but again his performance sucked.
DAY 10
What sort of moron who plays darts for a living would have no spare darts, Justin Pipe thats who, after delaying the game for ages which should not been allowed he had to end up using one of Mark Walsh's darts to continue. Bristow was right , Walsh should not have given it to him, thankfully the slow prick is out, and we even got a Walsh interview.
After a dreadful first 2 sets by Winstanley  who got a 9 darter in the 3rd set this was another great game, that should have gone 3-3 in sets before Winstanley missed single 1 when left on 9, and Van der Voort took his chance and won the leg, set and match, think vince has a great chance next round if he plays like that again.
Wade -v- Beaton was not the best game but in the end the best player won. Beaton busting 122 and fucking up the most important leg of the match like deano did earlier cost him the match, Wade swooped in like a vulture and took the leg to give him the win.
MVG was pretty poor in his match against Peter Wright early on but picked it up big time in the 3rd set and after that it was nearly all one way traffic, Wright to his credit played very well and missed a couple of crucial darts but in the end MVG was just too good.
Terry Jenkins threw away his match with the shaved ape with a lisp.Jenkins outscored Hamilton and was first to the double almost every leg, he missed so many darts especially at tops it was ridiculous.  Jenkins should have won the four sets Hamilton won, never did a player get handed a win so easily,  I am still sick, and for Jenkins to do it against Hamilton who stupidly thought he deserved it only compounded the matter.
Robert Thornton was awful in his match against Phil Taylor, managing to win only 3 of the 15 legs played, Taylor while far from his best improved on his performances so far and had a 97 average.
DAY 11
What looked on paper to be possibly the greatest day of darts turned into a poor day. Some fine solo performances but only one game that was any way exciting in a competitive way.
Wes Newton and Mark Walsh was a turgid affair, neither player doing much, guess Wes was not too bothered as he only had to continue it as he was winning quite convincingly.
Next up was Whitlock and Chizzy which was the game of the day, good match that saw Chizzy battle throughout to stay in the game and possibly should have won the final set but Whitlock hit a vital 152 checkout to save the match and after that saw of Chizzy.
James Wade beat Vincent van der Voort 4-0 but Wade could easily have been 2-0 down, he scored lower but in typical Wade produced what was needed at the crucial times. Not his best performance but building nicely.
MVG was too good for Lloyd who started well and had a chance for the first set. Lloyd did take the 3rd set but it was all he was gonna to get as MVG powered through another match.
The much hyped Anderson -v- Barney game was a complete let down, Ando should be ashamed of himself, its one thing to lose to Barney if he was throwing superbly but Barney gave Anderson chance after chance which he managed to fuck up, showed no bottle and smiled as he got his arse handed to him. Sad thing is some poor player wont make the PL this year due to him getting an undeserved wildcard I think, possibly even his own countryman Robert Thornton.
Adrian Lewis did enough in the end to see off a resilient Kevin Painter who battled from 2 sets down to level, if only Anderson showed a quarter of the bottle Painter did in his match it might be something. I think that also ended Painters time in the PL too.
DAY 12
A great and complete performance by Barney over Whitlock. to his credit Whitlock played well and stuck in but Barney was far too good. Would have liked to see more pressure on Barney to see how he would have held up but we will see in the next game.
Phil Taylor who is getting better as the comp goes on made Hamilton look like the jobber he is when it comes to playing taylor. It was a massacre, and the commentators were as bad with their bullshit how he never gives up.......he can never beat taylor, who are they kidding, and he never will, a total back pocket player to the power.
Hopefully this will end any hope of seeing him in the PL next year.
DAY 13
James Wade who is just plodding along with a low 90 average yet again did enough to take crucial legs at the right time against Wes Newton. Wade looked in deep trouble at 2-0 down in sets and should have been 3-1 down but once Wade got the  set it was a different game. , he then rattled of 2 more without Wes doing anything of note to lead 4-2. Fair play to Wes he got back in the game and levelled up at 4-4 but the experience of Wade got him through 3-1 in the final set...a great game.
The next game was even better, Lewis and MVG put on an awesome display, its was MVG who won it in the end, even though lewis had 2 darts for the match himself. both players finished with an average over a 100 which is some standard over 37 legs, which had 26 x 180s.. The only time lewis led in the match was in the final set where he led 2-1 and missed 2 darts for the match before MVG took out a crucial 83, then hit a 108 checkout next leg to break and set him up for the match.
Was a fantastic night of darts and superb quality and entertainment.
DAY 14
As expected MVG had too much for Wade who never got going and again only had a low to mid 90 average. He did however up it for crucial legs throughout the match but in the end the consistency and power scoring of MVG who started hitting his doubles proved too much for Wade. James was lucky to win the first set due to mvg missing doubles, but after the break MVG powered in 9 straight legs to take the next 3 sets., and when it looked like Wade was gonna go 4-1 down he came back and won the set to make it 2-3 and then threw fantastic darts to level the match after 6 sets., however it seemed like Wade was only delaying the inevitable when he won a set to pull back to 5-4 before MVG wrapped it up in the next set with a 3-0 leg win. Overall a great game if a little overshadowed by the other semi final.
Phil Taylor came out of the blocks in decent form but it was more than enough before the fat sweaty postman treated us to yet another bottling job in the early part of the match. Taylor went 2-0 up in sets without breaking a sweat, Barney who then won the third set 3-0 and should have had some confidence was like a fat spolit child, started more headshaking and needed a good kick in his fat hole, before spending the next 3 sets feeling sorry for himself while Taylor took a 5-1 lead, though it was hardly surprising knowing Barneys mental state. Just when it seemed Taylor was gonna wrap it up quick time Barney started to play when he had nothing else to lose and threw some good darts and managed to win set after set, til he was only down 5-4, but when the pressure told up stepped Taylor and made sure of the win in the final set. After winning his throw in the final set first leg, he should have broke barney but missed doubles, in the next leg he finished 100 with 2 double tops, and it seems to inspire him more, in the next leg he hit 68 to win the match after Headshaker missed 2 darts to stay alive.
Another fantastic night of darts, and after the match, Barney who gave it all the big mouth pre match about how he was ready for taylor before folding like a cheap suit and crying like a fuckin spastic during the game, seemed to piss off Taylor, would not let his hand go, could not take the hint to fuck off, followed Taylor around the stage like a lapdog grabbing onto him, if anything Taylor should have slapped the fat overweight dyke loving tulip growing windmill lover.
FINAL
What a superb match, and brilliant result. both players averaging over a 100 for over 50 legs.
Phil showed why he is the master, he just got better and better as the match wore on, and his cover shooting on the treble 19 was suberb. Had he hit a few more crucial doubles when he has countless chances to break his margin of victory would have been even greater.
Fair play to the little green dutch goblin for his run but the better player won it, and i am glad he did,, only fitting he would win the first Sid Waddell trophy.

The tournament as a whole was by far the most successful ever in terms of exposure publicity global recognition, viewers etc, and there is numerous contenders for match of the tournament, we got 2 9 darters, and almost had 2 back to back.

I hyped this as the greatest show on earth, and I was not let down.
