KNOB OF THE WEEK
There is fuckall happening this month, we have 2 weeks at the start of August with nothing followed by another 2 weeks where we only get pointless World Series muck in the Southern Hemisphere, seemingly this down time is to allow players take their holidays, you would swear they players were doing 60 hour weeks every week. As it stands countless players are skipping events all year round, picking and choosing events to skip, and if the PDC think the players need August to rest and take a break from travel, then why haul some halfway across the planet to New Zealand. Later in the year the TV events come thick and fast, it was bad enough the Matchplay was the first proper Major in 7 months not counting 3 days for the UK Open but to follow it with a month of nothing. The PDC calendar is in serious need of a reshuffle, even if it meant bringing forward almost every players championship so the PC Finals could come earlier in the year, likewise for euro tours in bring them more earlier.
This month the Twat Porter could have used this time to promote themselves in a positive way and announced members for the PDC Hall of Fame. It seems like it is every year I ask why so many of the original people who formed the WDC , which became the PDC are not in the Hall of Fame. To put things in to prospective the WDC was formed 34 years ago, when players eventually quit the BDO putting not only their own careers on the line, but put their own money on the line, and they stood up to the pressure of the BDO, the courts, often waiting well over 6 months or even longer to get paid from an event, and bar two traitorous Judas cunts who stabbed them in the back like Mike Gregory and Chris Johns, the remainder stood firm, without them there would be no PDC, no Barry Hearn, who make no mistake only got involved not because he "cared for the game" but in his own words said he smelled money. Yes Taylor and Bristow are in the Hall of Fame and rightfully so, but the have John Gwynne in the Hall of Fame, here is a guy who was not only a poor commentator, but was paid to do a job and stuck in the Hall of Fame for kissing ass, a guy that risked nothing, got paid well, but you have people like Jocky Wilson, a twice world champion , a Scot who like the other breakaway stars put his own money up to help form what is now the PDC and they could not put him in the Hall of Fame.
Then you have shaky Dave Clark, another useless cunt, and always said he was shit, then the poor bastards gets parkinsons, and no way the woke PDC could be seen to replace them. he got in the Hall of Fame, what next ? Thunder Thighs Turner for sitting in a warm studio spouting shit while she is handsomely rewarded, and her inclusion could tick some boxes ? but the actual players who put their careers on the line get ignored. I would go as far as to say people like Phil Taylor should be more vocal and demand the other former WDC creators be included, and speak up more, but Taylor has only ever made everything about himself. Jocky Wilson is not the only former World champion either, you have Bob Anderson and Keith Deller, along with 2 former world #1 in Harrington and Warriner, and the likes of Twat Porter is so ridiculously woke I expect him to add a woman or a token non white to the Hall of Fame soon to tick some PC box, rather than give some recognition to the actual people who deserve it, as without those people there would be no PDC for Twat Porter to run.
Before I go, on the subject of people that should be in the Hall of Fame, a word on Keith Deller , I remember him beating the top 3 players, and seeds to win his world title, a great achievement and was popular at the time, came across as humble, sadly over the years became an egotistical cunt who thinks his 138 is the only score of 138 that could ever be important. I get he wants to self promote, but does so in a way where he alienates people, where everything is about him this week he could not help himself again go on about it on twitter, he would be better of spending his time arguing for himself and others to be included in the Hall of Fame. Of the 16 people who formed the WDC, 14 of which were players, 9 of those people , more than half of them are still not in the PDC and not given the recognition they deserve for what they did.
