Last week we saw Dave Chisnall choke, followed by an even worse choke by Jeffrey de Zwaan, and finally the worst of them all the one by Ian White. I did not think it was possible the appalling choke of White could be topped, let alone beaten in the very same competition, but beaten it was,by Daryl Gurney last Saturday.
I was delighted to see it too. This is where I normally point out how the choker had a sour face on him after he is beaten, but this is Daryl Gurney, the cunt has a sour face all the time, and his miserable attitude, humped posture, and his scowling face constantly starring down is something we are all sadly subjected to when watching this miserable cunt.
We were at least spared the cunt giving us his usual speech "he wuz ma best friend so he was...sob sob" whilst crying and giving oral to his necklace.
He led 13 - 6 in legs, and managed to lose 11 of the last 13 legs, and lost the last 8 legs of the match on the trot. I am not rob Cross's biggest fan but Cross winning and then claiming the title was also good in that it shut up all the simpletons who tried claim Cross was a one comp wonder.
As for Gurney, he tried to blame his bottle job on the fans, who were caught up in the Cross comeback and made for a dramatic match.
He is another of these cunts who only has a problem with fans when they are not on his side, but the same fans are great when they are on his side.
While we are on the topic of the Matchplay, a mention for John McDonald who at the conclusion of the final and on the presentation of the trophy said "the moment we all have been waiting for"....no John, we watch for the darts and the action in the gamer, not tune in to see a trophy presented, and speaking of the trophy, why was Phil Taylor not there to present the trophy, it is after all the Phil Taylor trophy ?
A mention for Head shaker Barney who entered both euro qualifiers today for the #11 & #12 European tour, and failed to qualify for both. This is the useless cunt who thinks he should get free entry to all the tournaments such is his ego. I wont miss him on those 2 upcoming euro tours.
He was not alone in jobbing in the qualifiers. In the UK qualifiers Stephen Bunting and Merv King both flopped in the qualifiers as well.
The big BDO news this week the announcements of the new venues for the bdo "majors". The Winmau Masters...sorry I mean the One80 - L-Style World Masters is now going to be held in the Circus Tavern, and the hilariously entitled "world pro" is no longer being held at Bob Potters hotel and is moving to the Indigo in London. Yes I know Des would have you believe its in the O2, but its a back room of the venue.
Months back Des claimed the venue issues in the BDO were not his fault and were the fault of Sportotal who were responsible for these issues, so now these venue issues have been resolved it therefore safe to say Sportotal were responsible for sorting these new venues, so why is Des trying to take credit.
Oh yeah...he tries to take credit for what he deems is a positive, but will lay blame on anyone but himself if it is negative.
When I first started posting on darts forums over a decade ago I remember how the mushrooms, bitter and full of jealousy because of the success the PDC, the PDC acquiring players like Barney and countless others, the increasing prize money, ever expanding fan base etc would try find fault with everything PDC. One of the most popular things for the mushrooms to try slag the PDC with was the Circus Tavern.
That venue was called a dump, a sweat box, a kip, and one thick Irish mick with a disturbing obsession with Martin Adams spent years calling the Circus Tavern a "Rundown Essex Strip club". Over a decade after the PDC stopped using this venue which was seemingly shit back them, its now suddenly a "fantasic move", and a "top class venue" now the BDO are picking up the PDC leftovers.
Is this the "glamour and glitz" that Des the liar promised ?
The same mushrooms who slated the Circus Tavern and now think its a top venue, showed even more hypocrisy today when it was announced Lakeshite was no longer hosting the "world pro". The only venue on earth that is capable of selling more than a dozen tickets to a bdo event is no more. Those who claimed Lakeshite as the home of darts that nothing could replace, are now out in force claiming its a "great move" to leave the very same Lakeshite they spent years hyping the fuck out of.
Personally I think the Circus Tavern and the Indigo are better venues, so Sportotal...not Des, did a positive move in going to these venues. The problem now is sponsorship. Without Bob Potter who the BDO owe a huge debt to, for him baling them out year after year who is going to help with the expected £350k prize fund. It is all well and good to go to more modern better venues, but without Bob's backing or sponsorship, there is no way its sustainable and cutting prize funds this year may be a given.
No sponsor has been announced, and I dont expect them to get one that can compensate for the prize fund, and am curious to see what prize fund is eventually announced.Unlike the PDC where the Prize fund increases year on year, this is the BDO most prize funds go the opposite direction.
As for ticket sales, I expect the BDO to sell tickets to new fans due to the venue in London, but will it be enough to compensate for all those former lakeshite regulars who have been very vocal on social media about not going and are unhappy about the new venue. Time will tell
A mention for the asshole Dave Parletti who was busy spouting his pro bdo bullshit as usual on social media,I could imagine him kissing his bdo logo on his polo shirt, such a sycophant is he. When he found out that the seeds enter round one now instead of getting byes to latter rounds his positive mood took a hit. Priceless.
Des also decided this week to add a new entry fee to the Masters, for ...wait for it...players already qualified. Thats right, players who paid to enter, then qualified, now must payn to enter again.
Then you have players openly stating on social media they won't be attending due to ridiculous scheduling.
Anastasia Dobromyslova and her husbad Tony Martin openly stated they won't be attending the Masters and expect it to be one of the worst attended Masters ever....and that bar is already set low.
Meanwhile in the PDC there are rumours of the PDC going to announce some big news in relation to darts concerning PDC growth America, China and Scandinavia.
Unlike the BDO, there has been no announcement of announcements, and when an announcement does come it will include all the needed information, and we will not be drip fed inuendo over months.
