The game of the day was the Jenkins -v- King match, and a edge of the seat last leg.Although a huge fan of Jenkins was happy to see Merv win this after the crowd were out of line with booing King who in a way brings it on himself.
Baxter does enough against the over rated Nicholson, who has an over inflated ego, still at least nicholson can find comfort in the 2 world titles he is gonna win.
Battle of the Andy's was another shit match, it was almost as bad as the pipe game, at least the Hammer who went through, is capable of better next round.
A fine win for Clogger over Chizzy who yet again bottles it on tv., and the way pyke went on you think it was the biggest upset in darts.
Wade was woeful yet again in his defeat against the slow and boring Dolan, even i think Wade is finished as the player he once was, I give him no chance in the up coming world championships, and the thought of Dolan versus Pipe next round looks fucking awful.
Big Daddy did more than enough to see of Burnett who looked like a bad loser when he wrongly had a go at Lewis. Some nice checkout by Lewis and sets up a decent game against what should be Phil Taylo.
MVG as expected disposes of Painter who did little of note, as exciting as MVG 's darts are his celebrations annoy the shit out of me, dancing like a shortarse fat weeble kissing his fist.
Great game between Beaton and Barney,fantastic and bizarre last leg, still this is a ranking tournament so no real surprise headshaker went out..Barney is back..
Taylor averaging 101 despite missing 10 match darts earlier beats Webster who showed flashes that he is coming back, and this comp is not setting up a top heavy bottom half of the draw and a "weaker" top half.
A very enjoyable match between Ando & Newton, and good to see Ando show solid form, sets up an all scottish affair next round, but expect Thornton to come out on top.
Whitlock was poor in his win over midcarder Caven, but still had more than enough to see him off. Needs to up his game next round.
SECOND ROUND
Thank God I missed the dolan - Pipe game, from what i heard it was over an hour of torture, the faster this ugly money grabbing sulky cunt gets beaten the better.
A decent enough game between Jones & Wright. Jones left it to late to get going, and in the end the best player won, if not the most solid performance.
Stroke victim Face and Micheal Smith served up a great game with Kimmy managing not to bottle it and won well in the end.
Anderson put in possibly his best tv performance for a long time in his match against Thornton who really never got going and was beating himself up on stage, lets hope Ando can continue this form as he is defending a lot of money this month.
MVG must have believed all the hype that he would beat Hamilton easily but was sent crashing back down to earth. Two annoying cunts with their face gurning and stupid celebrations and in the end the solid if not spectacular Hamilton deserved the win.
Taylor seems to be back to his old self, clinical on the board, and interviews with name drops. Lewis left it too late to get his act together but understandably his mind might not be on the game, but great to see him show he is getting back to his best for the worlds.
King beats Beaton in a dour affair in which neither player did much, King will need to up it next round against the slow cunt.
QUARTER FINALS
Solid performance yet again from Huybrechts in his win over Wright, averaging 104 in the process.
Pipe bored King and the planet in his victory over a lackluster Merv King, the faster he gets bowled out the better.
Superb match between Whitlock & Anderson, Ando left it too late to get going and could have almost leveled it at 9-9, but Whitlock who produced great darts himself held on.
What a match between Hamilton and Taylor, where Taylor won five legs on the trot averaging 118 in them legs to sneak home 10-9. Hamilton who produced one of darts best comebacks against whitlock a couple of years ago now the victim this time.
SEMI FINALS
Good riddance to Pipe, thankfully the slow pace of pipe did not affect Stroke Face and put in a solid showing to make us all happy by sending the slow cunt home.
Whitlock put in a shocking performance in a true bottle job to Taylor, who took out some fantastic finishes of 170 and 164 in the final 2 legs.
FINAL
No real surprise Taylor came out on top, Taylor hitting a ton plus average for the sixth game on the trot. Kimmy to his credit battled well in the early stages but his scoring was poor and in the end it certainly cost him. Sill he can console himself with a cheque for 24k, a huge jump in the ranking and a place in next years GSoD.
This really sets it up for what surely will be the best World championship ever.
